The thing about babies is that they are so adorably fragile when they were first born yet grow at lightning speed. In the blink of an eye, they'll be eighteen and going off to college with nothing more than a backward glance.
Having a baby record book circumvents this somewhat. Filled with (embarassing) moments such as getting cake in the face during their first birthday, nude pictures by the month as their growth is measured and recorded, and those chubby little cheeks red from crying, it's chock full of ammunition you can use to make sure they regard you in a healthy amount of love and trepidation until you finally relinquish ownership of the damning book.
